Craghoppers and the environment. Looking out for the world we love...

C is for Craghoppers but C is also for...

Curiosity

You love to travel, and we're passionate about equipping you to explore the four corners of the world. Wherever the journey leads, we're aware of the need to tread as lightly as we can, and to reduce our impact on the environment in everything we do. Each step, however small, takes us in the right direction. Here's a reminder of some of the measures we're taking to make a difference.

Carbon Neutral®

Craghoppers was the first outdoor company to be confirmed as CarbonNeutral® and we've renewed our status for 2009. We're dedicated to keeping our emissions, along with those of our partners, to an absolute minimum, and we're constantly reviewing our carbon footprint.

Catalogues

All our catalogues are printed on FSC certified paper. The forest Stewardship Council's tree logo is your assurance that our current catalogue hasn't contributed to global forest destruction. You might also like to know that the training manual used by everyone here at Craghoppers is printed on triple green paper, made from 60% sugar cane fibre and 40% wood pulp from sustainably managed forests.

Clothing and Cardboard

Wherever possible, our clothes are packed in recycled paper and given recycled tickets. We also make sure that as much of our packaging as possible is biodegradable. We sort and recycle all our packaging waste and we know that you're all doing the same at home, too.

Cotton

Fairtrade and Organic is the road we're heading down more and more frequently for our cotton. Organic cotton farming is better for the soil as no chemical pesticides or fertilisers are used. Ethically traded cotton ensures small-scale farmers receive a fair and stable price for their crop, in the same way that growers do for Fairtrade bananas, coffee or chocolate. The Fairtrade label tells you that disadvantaged producers in the developing world are getting a better deal.

Customers

You all share our wish to make as little impact on the environment as possible when travelling. The Craghoppers philosophy is that we travel responsibly, with genuine respect for the people, their landscape and resources. Before leaving home, we can do our bit by not over-packing our luggage, to help save on aircraft fuel and carbon emissions - it's a very small step, but every little bit adds up.
